Canada clings tot heir one goal lead.  Luongo has been steady in the third as has Miller.  Neither team has been able to control play and dominate.  Lucky bounces have been few and far between. no comments

Team USA is keeping pressure on Roberto Luongo, but the Canadian netminder is holding fast.  His American counterpart is doing an equally admirable job on the other end of the ice.  A battle of the goalies.  Less than nine minutes to go. no comments

Second Intermission Thoughts

Canada's talent began to separate them from the US. Another goal scored and two smothering penalty kills by the Canadians put them in the driver's seat as the teams head to the Final Period of Regulation Hockey at the 2010 Vancouver winter Olympics.

Canada continued to put pressure in front of Ryan Miller, Culminating with Corey Perry's goal just after the seven minute mark of the period. Perry collected a rebound from a Getzlaf shot and took at advantage of a pick set by Patrick Marleau on American defenseman Ryan Whitney. Suddenly it was a two goal lead.

Team USA recaptured the momentum with a whisker over seven minutes to go in the period solving Luongo for their first goal. Ryan Kesler moved the puck from his own end through the neutral zone and dished to Patrick Kane. Kane set up and wristed the puck towards Luongo. The puck was tipped by Kesler who was streaking to the net to score America's first goal of the gold medal game.

The Canadians are twenty minutes away from an Olympic gold medal. Their lead is far from safe, and their opponent has no intention of rolling over. The fury of the final period awaits.

Plenty of shots on Luongo since Kesler's goal.  And plenty of saves by Canada's goalie.  The pace remains quick as time runs down in the second period. no comments

Ryan Kesler fed Patrick Kane for a wrist shot that Kesler deflected past Roberto Luongo.  A bang-bang play puts the USA on the board.  Luongo dove too late to prevent the puck from passing the goal line. no comments

The US gets another power play and they need to convert this one.  Toews tripped Ryan Suter to give the US their second man advantage. no comments

Stay in front of the net and good things will happen.  Corey Perry was in the right place at the right time to collect a rebound and beat Ryan Miller.  Canada doubles their lead. no comments

Right as Malone is sprung from the box, Eric Staal is sent off for interference.  Two successful kills have now been rewarded with an opportunity to tie the game with a man advantage. no comments

Canada remains extrememly dangerous with a man advantage.  The US penalty kill will need to be up to the task. no comments
